A well-balanced nutritious diet is essential for bird performance.
Hybrid Commercial Nutritional Guidelines
- Growing birds require a lower protein (20%) level in the feed; but must have a good balance of calcium and phosphorus for proper bone growth. Values of calcium and phosphorus for ingredients used in the manufacture of feeds for Hybrid Turkeys are listed as a reference. Customers should always carefully implement any reduction of current levels of calcium or phosphorus in their finished feeds, and such reductions should always be done by an experienced nutritionist to avoid any flock problems.
- Amino acid ratios relative to lysine are used to calculate total or available concentration of the following amino acids: methionine, methionine + cysteine, threonine, arginine, isoleucine, valine and tryptophan. Other than lysine, amino acid to lysine ratios are used to calculate all amino acid concentrations as listed under the "DIET" tabs.
- Vitamin or mineral supplements are necessary as part of turkey feed formulas. Practical vitamin and trace mineral guidelines are available in the Nutritional Guidelines. Choline chloride is best added to complete feed, not to a premix. Any changes in vitamin and trace mineral supplementation should be carefully done by an experienced nutritionist.
